Inspiring students TODAY helps shape the marine and maritime workforce TOMORROW
Since 2010, EYC Foundation’s Marine & Maritime Career Expo has been educating Anne Arundel County, Maryland students about the marine and maritime world and inspiring them to discover and pursue careers in the industry. The event connects local 11th and 12th graders with marine and maritime service and retail companies, trade schools, higher education institutions, military and government organizations.
Originally held at a local high school, the Expo now takes place at Bert Jabin Yacht Yard in Annapolis where students have the added benefit of experiencing a working boatyard. There are opportunities to see a Marine Travel Lift 75 moving boats from winter storage into the water, technicians repairing boats of all sizes and types, or craftspeople designing and building the boat of someone’s dreams.
It’s a unique opportunity to engage with industry professionals, ask questions, engage in hands-on activities, collect resources on colleges, trades, training programs and military service, learn pathways to desirable jobs, and taste the passion that industry pros have for their profession.
In recent years lucky students have made connections that lead to summer job and internship offers.
