Originally started as the MAST (MArine Skills Training) Career Fair in 2010, EYC Foundation’s Marine & Maritime Career Expo was conceived with the goal of inspiring and helping high school students discover and pursue careers in the industry. The event connects local 10th, 11th and 12th graders with marine and maritime service and retail companies, trade schools, higher education institutions, military and government organizations.
In cooperation with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, the annual event originally took place at a local high school. Starting in 2023 the event was greatly enhanced by moving to Bert Jabin Yacht Yard in Annapolis where students have the added benefit of experiencing a working boatyard and connecting with the many on-site marine support businesses. Now some lucky students walk away from the day with summer job offers!
For a student, their day at the Expo means a chance to learn the pathways to desirable jobs, engage in hands-on learning, collect resources on colleges, trades, training programs and military service, and taste the passion that industry pros have for their profession.
